Mil-Spec
Military specification MIL-DTL-5541-F (Chemical Conversion Coatings on Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys) applies to chemical conversion coatings formed by the reaction of chemical conversion materials within the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloys. This specification is approved for use by all departments and agencies of the United States Department of Defense (DoD). Although prepared specifically for DoD applications, the standard is used for many commercial applications as well. It has gained worldwide use across many fields versus ISO equivalent.
Clear Iridite
Iridite is a chemical process that produces a protective chrome conversion film on aluminum and its alloys. The coating offers corrosion protection and can be used as a final finish or the base paint or topcoats. The process is environmentally friendly, a non–chrome passivate (NCP) to comply with the ELV, RoHS and WEE directives. Iridite does not contain lead, cadmium, chromium (hexavalent or trivalent) mercury or PBB / PBDE compounds. But offers a corrosion resistance that is equal to hexavalent chromates on many aluminum alloys.
Wet Paint
Wet paint is a coating that starts as a liquid and dries into a solid film when applied to a surface. It's a mixture of non-volatile components like pigments, binders, additives, and fillers, and a volatile solvent. During the curing process, the solvent evaporates, allowing the remaining components to form a dry film. Liquid paint can dry through exposure to air or a chemical catalyst.
Cerakote
Cerakote is a ceramic based finish that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness.
Powder Coat
Powder coating is a dry powder applied to a charged surface, creating a thicker coating in one application more than a single coat of paint. An electrostatic charge holds the coating onto the surface, which remains in place after curing the object.
Silkscreen
Silkscreen is sophisticated stenciling technique for surface printing, in which a design is cut out of paper or another thin, strong material and then printed by rubbing, rolling, or spraying paint through the cut out areas.
